Privacy Policy

How Equity Investor Gateway collects, uses, shares and protects personal information.

1. Overview

This policy explains how Equity Investor Gateway (“we”, “us”) handles personal information. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

It applies to the public website, the dashboard, our emails and any enquiry sent through the platform.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone, company, password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form) and the roles you choose.
  • Listings and businesses: business details, financial figures, photos and documents such as an Information Memorandum, including information you mark as confidential.
  • Profiles: investor and private equity criteria, and professional profiles, including photos or logos, contact details, services and, for professionals, licence or membership numbers (never shown publicly).
  • Enquiries and messages you send or receive through the platform, including information requests.
  • Payments: plan, amounts, dates and references. Card and direct-debit details are entered on our payment provider’s secure pages; we don’t see or store full card or bank account numbers. If you pay by bank transfer, we keep the transfer slip you upload.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device details, and records of key actions in your account (for example sign-ins, downloads of confidential documents and changes to listings) kept for security and audit purposes.

If you give us information about someone else, such as a colleague or adviser, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.

3. How we use it

  • to run your account and provide the marketplace and directories;
  • to review listings and profiles before they are published, and check professionals’ credentials against public registers;
  • to deliver enquiries and confidential documents to the people they are meant for;
  • to process memberships and payments, and send receipts and billing notices;
  • to send service emails, such as review outcomes, enquiry alerts and security notices;
  • to keep the platform secure, prevent misuse and meet our legal obligations; and
  • to improve the platform.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t send marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them.

4. Who we share it with

  • Other users, as the platform is designed to work: published listings and profiles are public (without confidential details); enquiries go to the listing or profile owner; Information Memoranda go only to people the owner approves.
  • Service providers who help us run the platform, such as hosting, data storage, email delivery and payment processing. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, courts or law enforcement where required or authorised by law.
  • A buyer of our business, if the platform is ever sold, under the same protections.

5. Overseas storage

Some of our service providers, including our payment provider and email service, may store or process information outside Australia. Where this happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Security and retention

  • Connections to the platform are encrypted, and passwords are stored only as secure hashes.
  • Confidential documents and transfer slips are kept in private storage and are only available through the platform to the people allowed to see them.
  • Access by our team is limited to what they need for their role and is recorded.

We keep information while your account is open and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including record-keeping, tax and dispute resolution. Paused or withdrawn listings are kept, not deleted, so they can be restored. When information is no longer needed we delete or de-identify it.

7. Cookies

The dashboard uses essential cookies to keep you signed in securely and protect forms against forgery, and remembers display preferences (such as light or dark mode) in your browser. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Access, correction and choices

  • You can see and update most of your information in the dashboard, under Account settings and your listings or profiles.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it. We may need to confirm your identity, and will respond within a reasonable time.
  • You can ask us to close your account. Some records may need to be kept for legal or audit reasons.

9. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about privacy, contact us using the details below and we will respond as soon as we can, usually within 30 days.

If you aren’t satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will let account holders know about significant changes.
